A person shot dead a woman who was drinking alcohol near the tank inside Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib of the city, while a servant was injured. The deceased woman has been identified as Parminder Kaur, who is said to be a resident of Patiala.

When the attendant stopped her, the woman broke the bottle and hit him on the hand. Meanwhile, another person passing by took out a pistol and fired at the woman, due to which she died on the spot. Both were taken to the Government Rajindra Hospital, where the woman was declared dead, while Sevadar Sagar is undergoing treatment, on receiving information, the police reached the Gurdwara Sahib on the spot, where they took stock of the scene. The police have started investigation into the matter by recording the statement of the serviceman admitted to the hospital.
