President Draupadi Murmu administered oath to Praveen Kumar Srivastava as the Central Vigilance Commissioner on Monday i.e. today. This information was given in a statement issued from Rashtrapati Bhavan. Srivastava on the post of Central Vigilance Commissioner Suresh N. Patel was serving as the acting Central Vigilance Commissioner since December last year after the completion of his tenure. The ceremony was attended by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi among other distinguished guests.
One post of Vigilance Commissioner is vacant in the Central Vigilance Commission. At present, former Intelligence Bureau chief Arvind Kumar is the sole vigilance commissioner. Srivastava is a 1988 batchIndian Administrative officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre. He retired as Secretary of the Cabinet Secretariat on January 31 last year. During his tenure as Special Secretary and Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, he managed matters related to cadre management of the Indian Police Service personnel and general administration of the Central Armed Police Forces and Union Territories. The tenure of the Central Vigilance Commissioner and Vigilance Commissioner is 4 years or till the incumbent attains the age of 65 years.
