The threat of the deadly pink bollworm is hovering over the cotton crop

ਸਮੁੱਚੇ ਮਾਲਵਾ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਰਹੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਮਦਨ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਸਰੋਤ ਕਪਾਹ ਦੀ ਖੇਤੀ ਹੈ। ਪਿਛਲੇ ਦੋ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕਪਾਹ ਦੀ ਫ਼ਸਲ 'ਤੇ ਗੁਲਾਬੀ ਸੁੰਡੀ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਤਰਾ ਮੰਡਰਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਪਾਹ ਦੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਵਧ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਇੱਕ ਫੀਲਡ ਸਰਵੇਖਣ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਕਪਾਹ ਦੀ ਅਗੇਤੀ ਬਿਜਾਈ ਦੇ ਕੁੱਲ ਰਕਬੇ 'ਚੋਂ 2 ਫ਼ੀਸਦੀ ਕਪਾਹ ਦੀ ਖੇਤੀ 'ਤੇ ਮਾਰੂ ਗੁਲਾਬੀ ਮੁੰਡੀ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਤਰਾ ਮੰਡਰਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

ਦੱਸ ਦੇਈਏ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਸਾਲ ਗਰਮੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਬੇਮੌਸਮੀ ਬਾਰਸ਼ ਨੇ ਕੀੜਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਢੁਕਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਜਨਨ ਅਤੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ। ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਕਰੀਬ 28 ਮਾਰਚ ਨੂੰ 'ਚਿੱਟੇ ਸੋਨੇ' ਦੀ ਬਿਜਾਈ ਕਰਨੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਕੀੜੇ ਕਪਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੌਦਿਆਂ 'ਤੇ ਜੁਲਾਈ ਦੇ ਅੱਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੜਾਅ 'ਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਦੂਜੇ ਖੇਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਕਰਮਣ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਤਰਾ ਵੱਧ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
